We are back: thank you for your support and patience

As many of you know, on September 11, 2023, a cyberattack by a ransomware group with known connections to Russia, temporarily disrupted our ability to serve the users and audiences of The Weather Network, MétéoMédia and platforms.

I am pleased to report that thanks to the incredible efforts of our staff and world-leading cyber experts, we are now back to serving our core mission, which is providing Canadians, Spanish and our diverse global user base with the most accurate weather and climate information, backed by the best of what science and technology has to offer. Our team of engineers are hard at work fixing some small remaining glitches and introducing exciting new features, which are to unfold over the next couple of weeks.

You should know that we did not yield to the ransom demands. Instead, we relied upon the enterprise and dedication of our people, as well as the understanding, patience and encouragement of our users and audiences to overcome the situation.

Addressing our users and audiences directly, we want you to know how deeply we value your trust. We recognize that you have options, and we never underestimate the significance of your support. If you turned to another source for weather updates in recent days, we will be honoured to have the opportunity to once again bring you timely, accurate and reliable weather information.

Thank you for your continued trust. With your support we contribute to the making of a resilient public service ecosystem.
