New Radar Map Update

  • Updated

We have released an update to the iOS app that includes defaulting the to show the radar map. If you are not seeing this, please make sure you are running the most updated version of the app.

Our new maps experience will give our users radar data that loads faster and updates sooner with much smoother animation. We now have light and dark mode designs to suit your device settings - this means that if you have your device set to dark mode instead of light, you will get a map experience that suits dark mode. You will also have better control of the timeline when you pause & play to see the radar or clouds.  We’ve also included layer icons and an expanded layer tray with descriptions of the layers.

To surface more relevant weather conditions and make it more useful for our users, we are surfacing the most relevant Map layers based on weather conditions. You will see the Radar Map as a default layer most of the time, but when there is no immediate radar activity but there is Precipitation, Wind or Heat forecast activity or warnings in the next 5 days, you may see our Precipitation, Wind or Temperature layer to keep you updated and safe.

You can easily toggle back to the Radar layer by either selecting the radar layer in the Maps module OR clicking the Maps link in the sub navigation on Apps & Mobile Web.
